I love these lenses. It is fantastic to have the aperture ring on the lens. I am said that practically all manufacturers abonded this design. I also love the lens made of metal, and the beautifully smooth focus ring. The only manual lens made of metal and with aperture ring that I have is Olympus OM 300mm f/4.5. I mean, this lens? old, but it’s such fun to use. Why did the manufacturers abandond the aparture ring design? It’s beyond me… Kudos to Zeiss for the fine prime lenses!

I am the National Sales Manager for? the Zeiss photo products in the Americas and the presenter in this video.Regarding the absence of AF in our ZE and ZF lenses, as they say it takes two to tango. Incorporating this feature into the lens requires the permission of the camera manufacturer, which is why we can offer an autofocus lens in the ZA product range. Re: the introduction of a ZF/ZE style lens in other lens mounts, this decision depends on customer demand and securing IP rights.
