I am the National Sales Manager for the Zeiss photo products in the Americas and the presenter in this video.Regarding the absence of AF in our ZE and ZF lenses, as they? say it takes two to tango. Incorporating this feature into the lens requires the permission of the camera manufacturer, which is why we can offer an autofocus lens in the ZA product range. Re: the introduction of a ZF/ZE style lens in other lens mounts, this decision depends on customer demand and securing IP rights.
It’s ironic, that there is no Sony Alpha/Minolta mount. There is a Sony/Zeiss? 85mm f/1.4 equivalent for Sony, but it is a Japanese lens. None of these real Zeiss lenses are available for Sony Alpha, which is a let down. The would work great on Sony Alpha 900. Why isn’t Zeiss supporing a company which they cooperate with? Even stranger thing is, why do the support competition which is Nikon, Pentax, and Canon? Anyway, I love all metal lenses. I have an Olympus OM lens, and it’s awesome!
