hey, you know many amatures turn to nikon to begin their dreams, you know the best nikon starter one is http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-Digital-18-5…
this is the nikon d40, with the nikkor 18-55mm lens, its great to start and the perfect all-around lens
hey, and for the portrait, you should go with:http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-50mm-Nikkor-…
this is the nikkor 50mm f/1.8 Lens, the all around good, great portrait lens
i wanna be a photographer too, i hope that my insight helped you in your decision ( even in the least )
Thanks,

Nikon D40… but you must be willing to learn how to use the manual features, otherwise it’s just a waste of money. The blur is controlled by you, not the camera. If you know how to properly control the camera, you won’t get any blur.
