Nikon Digital Slrs Best For Starters?

I’m going to college in Sept 2010 for photography but until then i have this huge itch to get started i want a Nikon SLR that’s not too expensive but that will do a good job, because i will have to buy the Nikon d 300 before school starts.
Thanks!

    Hi Samantha,
The Nikon D40 for about $400 is highly rated and hugely popular.
Here’s a review by Digital Photography Review (see the sample pictures too).http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond40…
Here are reviews by 433 satisfied users…http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-Digital-18-5…
    Hope this helps, good luck!

Why do you have to buy a D300?
The D40 is great, with an excellent kit lens. I’ve had one, also the D80, D1x, and now a D200. The D40 is capable (once you learn it) of making excellent images, and great prints (247 dpi on 8.5″ x 11″ paper).

If you have to absolutely buy a D300 before school starts, buy it.
